I think it's important to remember that even if you're prepared to wait 8 years to rejoin the EU, all the reasons for wanting to be part of the EU are exactly the same reasons for remaining part of the UK, only more so.

Wanting to join the EU as an indy nation is one thing, supplying the necessary criteria listed in the Lisbon treaty, quite another.

The European Union (EU) acquis is the collection of common rights and obligations that constitute the body of EU law. Many who wish to join the bandwagon don't know what they'd be signing up to, including the obligation to join the Euro.

There are also the substantial obligations on accepting measures in the fields of common foreign and security policy and justice and home affairs. Do most Scots want to accept those?
